Time certainly flies

Wednesday August 14, 2014

I'm definitely not one to keep up with blog posts. A year and a half is a long time to wait and a time frame in which much can happen.

I finally managed to complete a Whole30 program. I lost some weight and some inches, but mostly I learned about the things that don't agree with me. For sure, sugar is a baddy and I now have even less tolerance for alcohol. This past week, I've been doing the 5-day fat fast to jump start my metabolism and I think I can safely say that the old sugar cravings are finally gone. Who knew you could actually cure a sweet tooth?

I finally transferred my oil paints down to San Diego and have three paintings in various stages of "not done yet." I really need to acquire some discipline and finish them. Two are small and won't take long, but one is three feet square and promises to keep me busy for quite a while.

Last Christmas, Dave gave me something I've had my eye on for a long time. A Yamaha Clavinova electronic piano. It can do so many things and I love it. I'm so happy that we stopped at Costco that Sunday last December.

In the past year we've stepped up our donations to the San Diego Zoo. In addition to our regular donations of $1000-$5000 for various new exhibits, we bought a bench at the new mountain lion exhibit. We're a family of cat lovers, so when the opportunity arose, we jumped on it. We'll also finance another bench next year in the new "Africa Rocks" area where groundbreaking will soon be taking place. Our donations have resulted in some new "perks" as well. We're now invited to many more activities that the zoo sponsors.

Life is good.
