Happy Anniversary

Posted by PicasaThe Lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel, Anaheim

We spent the weekend celebrating our 35th anniversary at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California where we stayed in the Grand California Hotel. We arrived on Friday afternoon and spent the day exploring our surroundings and doing some window shopping. We had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and dinner at Hook's Point, an excellent restaurant found at the Disneyland Hotel.

On Saturday, we visited the two theme parks. We began at Disneyland and had fun on some of our favorite attractions. It was interesting to see how they differed from those at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. We used to live near Disneyland and visited frequently, but it's changed a bit over the years and keeps adding things to stay fresh. This time, it was all about pirates. California Adventure, the newest theme park there, didn't even exist when we lived in the area and Dave had never been there. They've added a few new attractions since I was last there as well. After spending a large part of the day at Disneyland, we moved on to California Adventure. We didn't stay that long at California Adventure since it doesn't have quite as much to interest us, so back we went to Disneyland to see the live action pirate show. We left the park via the monorail and headed back to our room where we changed for dinner.

Dinner on Saturday, our 35th anniversary, was spent at Steakhouse 55, a gourmet restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel. Our meal was fabulous and we had a great time.

Today, we grabbed breakfast at The Jazz Kitchen in the Downtown Disney area. It's styled after the Cafe du Monde in Jackson Square in New Orleans and we filled up on authentic beignets. Yum. Now we're home and getting back into our regular routine. After two and a half days away, I think the cat is happy to see us again.
