Gardening in the Summertime

My orange tree has been blossoming. When I bought it a few months ago, there were no blossoms and I thought I'd missed the season for this year, but apparently not. This is one of four citrus trees I have. The two lemons, a Eureka and a Meyer, are planted in the garden that is between the patio tiles and the garden wall. The lime and the Navel orange are in pots. All appear to be doing well.

I love having a garden here in San Diego, even though I have very limited space. That at least makes it easy to take care of. Today I spent about 20 minutes doing a little pruning. All the the petunias were a little leggy and needed to be cut back so they'll bloom again. With a little fertilaizer and care, they should keep on blooming well into December.

We had to tackle a big project this month. Earlier this summer, we discovered that the control wire from our furnace to the air conditioner condenser was broken somewhere within the wall of our home. Ultimately we had to cut several holes in our livingroom wall to discover the location of the break and found that a rat had chewed through the wire. It took a week, but we were able to replace the wire and took steps to prevent future rat invasions.
